Having
earned a BBA from Southern Methodist University in 1964 and a
Doctor of Jurisprudence from Texas Tech University in 1970, Martin
Cude has been practicing law for 30 years. Mr.
Cude's primary expertise has been in the area of real estate
law, beginning with private practice immediately after law school.
In 1972 the partnership of Nelson & Cude was formed, which
specialized in real estate and FHA insured projects. In 1974
Mr. Cude joined Federal National Mortgage Association as Legal
Counsel where he was instrumental in formulating and implementing
its condominium and planned unit development lending programs
and was involved with the drafting of the Uniform Condominium
Act and the VA condominium program. In 1978 Mr. Cude once again
entered into private practice specializing in setting up condominium
and planned unit development regimes primarily for FNMA, FHLMC,
VA, and FHA approval and in 1980 formed the partnership of Cude
& Shanbaum continuing in the same areas of practice. In 1983
this office expanded to include a fee attorney's office for Dallas
Title Company. From 1984 until mid -1986 the partnership of Cude
& Sallinger was created as a fee attorney's office closing
loans for Dallas Title Company, Stewart Title Company, and Ticor
Title Company.
Mr. Cude
has lectured at events sponsored by the Louisiana Mortgage Bankers
Convention, American Institute of Real Estate Appraisers, Practising
Law Institute, Federal National Mortgage Association, National
Association of Home Builders, and Condominium Association Institute.
His article entitled, "Blanket Insurance for PUD's, a Workable
Option" was published in 1975 in the FNMA SELLER SERVICER
while employed as Legal Counsel.
Since
1974 Mr. Cude has drafted the legal documentation for or reviewed
in depth the legal documentation for more than 725 condominiums
and planned unit developments; i.e. residential, commercial,
medical/dental, assisted living, warehouse, and mixed use, all
over the country.
